Be Smart about Antibiotics
Antibiotics are amazing, lifesaving substances when used properly. The problem is that we tend to overuse antibiotics these days, taking them at the first sign of a cold or other illness. Antibiotics only treat bacterial infections. They do not work against viruses. And if you take antibiotics when you don’t need them, you will only weaken your immune system and become ill more often.
In addition to killing the unhealthy bacteria in your body, antibiotics also kill all the healthy bacteria. The good bacteria in your stomach is essential as it keeps your immune system strong, helps combat the unhealthy bacteria in your gut, aids digestion and provides essential nutrients and vitamins for your body.
You want to take antibiotics only when you really need them, and when you do, make sure you consume large amounts of probiotics simultaneously to replace the good bacteria in your gut.
